OFF SCRIPT - AN ALTERNATIVE COURSE IN FILMMAKING AND GETTING FILMS MADE (APRIL 2026)

Rob will be running an online course for a maximum of seven participants in April 2026…

‘Off Script’ is not like other film courses - this is about getting films made and avoiding the traps that kill projects before they even get off the page.

Taking inspiration from seven exceptional micro-budget films that tore up the rulebook and (despite the odds) actually got made, the course asks: why did these films break through when so many others stalled? What can they teach us about getting our own projects into production today?

Over seven weeks, this course dives into the mechanics of storytelling — character, consequence, conflict, place — as well as practical strategies for financing, production, and knowing when to move forward without permission. It is practical, interactive and never boring, drawing on Rob’s years of experience learning from and working alongside directors including Stephen Frears and Darren Aronofsky.

The course (which culminates in a 1:1 tutorial) will be taught personally by Rob and will run on Tuesday evenings for seven weeks. It is intended for specifically writers, directors and producers with projects that they are trying to get into production (across fiction, documentary and everything in between).
